Thomas Balkcom’s Movies

Just another weblog

Hello all

I am sitting here watching this Pitt game (as Ok State is about to tie it up) thinking about how much I have to do in the next couple days but also that the fact of the matter is I will have close to nothing to do after Tuesday for a good week or so. As far as my brackets go, first round was rough (thanks to the ACC – especially Wake) so far perfect in the second round, but that will end soon because I had Wake going into the next round. As of this morning I was 30-10 on my picks (much better than last year).

I am absolutely starving so I am sure this post will not be very long, I need to run a couple errands as well. It’s absolutely beautiful today, I am hoping to be able to play some basketball a little later on today, we’ll see. If I am motivated enough, I am going to head down to GSU’s library and try to knock some of this paper out.

I am still not ready to register on Thursday, picking my courses for my FINAL semester has proved to be extremely difficult. I Love You, Man was great despite its lackluster reviews, I really enjoyed it and it was great to be back in a theater (only my third film in a theater this year!). A week off from it but I am hoping to make it back into my normal routine. Here’s a rough schedule…

April 3rd – Adventureland
April 10th – Observe and Report
April 17th – Crank 2 (haha I know what y’all are thinking but I love the first one)
April 24th – The Soloist
May 1st – X-Men Origins: Wolverine (to kick off movie summer!)
May 8th – Star Trek

Thank you for reading, I will post again soon.

  1. Hi Thomas,

Saw Milk over the weekend and was disappointed, not in Sean Penn’s performance which was excellent, but in the film itself. I found it strangely shallow–didn’t capture the era, music off, etc. Not enough character development? Guess this is going against majority opinion, but Al was the same way about it. Read about another movie “Sin Nombre” in the WSJ that is supposed to be really good. Have a good week. Sharon
